Work experience and internships

I am committed to helping young people learn about and get involved with politics.  My office receives a large number of requests for work experience and internships and it is wonderful to see that so many young people are keen to get involved. Unfortunately we are unable to offer placements to everyone that gets in touch with us.

Work experience placements take place over 3 days with time in my constituency office and Westminster.  I am working with secondary schools within the constituency to offer a number of placements each year.  Unfortunately my office is unable to accept direct applications for work experience placements.

Internships I am proud to be working with the University of Surrey and Queen Mary University of London to offer 2 placements each year.  Students on politics degree courses at these institutions are able to apply through their University placement schemes.

In addition, I encourage all young people who want to get experience in politics to consider volunteering with the local political party that best aligns with their views.  Volunteering can take place alongside studies and at weekends and there are a vast number of ways to gain experience ranging from writing articles, designing and maintaining websites, managing social media, art working graphics, face to face canvassing and much more.
